Scope and content

An album of newspaper cuttings and ephemera relating to exhibitions at the South London Art Gallery, including: the exhibitions which took place as part of the 1951 Festival of Britain; ‘Spring Exhibition of Art: The Post Office Club of Great Britain’ (1952); and an exhibition of artwork by children from schools in south London (1953).

The cuttings relating to the 1953 ‘Camberwell Old People's Welfare Association: Over Sixties Exhibition - A Display of Handwork’ include several about a woman who sat in her bed in the gallery for a day to show the care she received from nurses.

There are also articles about puppet shows in the gallery (put on by staff and students from Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts) and gramophone concerts.
