Scope and content
Installation photographs of the solo exhibition 'Rose Garrard: Arena for Conversation' which took place at the South London Gallery from 17 August to 18 September 1994. Arena for Conversation was a story-telling project and installation, the first iteration of which was at the Vancouver Art Gallery followed by the Cornerhouse, Manchester. The South London Gallery was the third and final 'arena'. Garrard explored local issues and arranged conversations with people living and working in the vicinity of the SLG. She presented the objects they brought to her alongside her own drawings and paintings. The installation shaped over time as the conversation developed between Garrard and the visitors.
