Scope and content
Installation photographs of the group exhibition Some Kind of Heaven which was held at the South London Gallery from 3 June to 13 July 1997. It included works by Rita Ackermann, Vanessa Beecroft, Ute Behrend, Sylvie Fleury, Jun Hasegawa, Mariko Mori, Elizabeth Peyton, Liza May Post, Pipilotti Rist, Georgina Starr, Jane & Louise Wilson and was curated by Sadie Coles and Eva Meyer-Hermann: 12 international women artists growing up in the 1970s and being exposed to television images, films and magazine spreads. Popular culture is threaded throughout the artist's work, however there are strong debates about gender and the redefinition of being a girl.
