Scope and content
A pamphlet entitled 'The Passmore Edwards South London Art Gallery and Technical Institute'. The text describes the laying of the foundation stone on 30 July 1896, as well as details about the plans for the new building, including the name of the architect (Mr. Maurice B. Adams), the builder (Mr. J.O. Richardson of Peckham) and the Clerk of the Works (Mr. H. Hogan). The text is credited to Matthew Wallace (Chairman, Camberwell Vestry), E.R. Phillips (Chairman, Public Libraries Committee), C. William Tagg (Vestry Clerk) and Edward Foskett (Cheif Librarian and Acting Curator). The front cover shows a drawing of the proposed facade of the new building, reproduced from "The Magazine of Art"; a small inset within the drawing shows the new layout of the ground floor.
