Catalogue of an exhibition entitled 'Southwark Through the Centuries', mounted by the London Borough of Southwark. No venue or dates are stated in the catalogue but there is a manuscript note inside the front cover: 'SLAG 9 Jan - 12 Feb 1970'.
The exhibition aimed to represent the area by then known as the London Borough of Southwark, made up of the three former Metropolitan Boroughs of Bermondsey, Camberwell and Southwark. The catalogue is divided into the following sections: Roman Southwark, Medieval Southwark, Bermondsey Abbey, The Old Villages, Historic Schools, Shakespeare's Southwark, Ships and Seafarers, 18th Century Houses, Southwark's Architectural Heritage, Street Scenes of the Past, Old-Time Entertainments, 19th Century - Bridges, Railways and Industries, Going to School, Victorian Days, Workhouses and Crowded Streets, Nights Out, Scenes of Yesterday and Southwark Today. There is also a section called 'Archives' with items under the headings: Parish Affairs, The Poor, Children, On the Roads, Shops and Theatres, and From the Cuming Museum. There were 297 exhibits in total.
There is also a card publicising the exhibition, and a typescript press release for the exhibition.
